Calling Upon Calliope is a juried showcase of work created by Denver School of the Arts middle and high school students. The publication is produced, designed, and edited entirely by the students with consultations from teachers and professionals in the field of design.
This year, we decided to go a unique route with the magazine and split it into three sections, each with their own designated themes: Nature, Magic, and Self.
Nature: The nature magazine incorporates heavy earth tones and has a central focus on the natural world. The writing also provides interesting perspectives on how the natural world manifests around us.
Magic: The magic magazine has an emphasis on the supernatural and the mythical. It explores the extraordinary within our existence.
Self: The self magazine takes an inward approach and comes from a central human perspective. This magazine looks inward at the many nuances of people.
Each magazine depicts a different iteration of "Calliope" upon the cover, chosen from the visual art pieces within each work.
